October – Getting Unstuck
Month 10: Resistance – Claim your power
Hello Writer
This year, I want to focus on the most common challenges we face as writers.
Every month, along with a prompt for every day, I’d like to share an exercise that helps us deal with challenges like writer’s block, perfectionism, procrastination, and imposter syndrome.
Getting started
When we sit down to write imposter syndrome loves to whisper, ‘Who do you think you are?’ This month, we’re going to borrow a little audacity.
Exercise:
Invent a confident, fearless version of yourself. This will be a writer who loves their voice and owns their words. In short, become your biggest fan. Imagine what readers will gush about? Write down praise from your critics. Write fan letters to yourself. Then write your stories as if you are already this person.
Why does this work?
Stepping into this bold version of yourself shows your inner critic who you actually  and reminds you courage is a choice that you make every time you come to the page.
Next month we will talk about overthinking.
Good luck, writer.
