Life and Laughing: My Story by Michael McIntyre (Michael Joseph) ISBN: 9780718155810
I am always in awe of anybody who has the discipline and patience to sit down and write a book of any kind, most especially if it’s a good book.
But I take my hat off to someone as busy and popular as Michael McIntyre who finds time in his hectic schedule of shows and public appearances to write a bestselling autobiography that tickles you and breaks your heart, sometimes at the same time.
The story centres on his rise to fame as one of the best English stand-up comedians currently, starting from his childhood and ending at his big break.
As McIntyre himself put it “It turns out that writing about success is actually very dull, so I deleted it, for your sakes.”
While not a ‘Shantaram’ or ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ type of autobiography, this book is definitely worth a read for McIntyre fans and non-fans alike, as it promises to keep you hooked for the entire satirical ride.
I guarantee that even if you have watched his stand-up comedy before, you will watch it again with new-found respect after reading his book.
