1. I’m the same kind of writer as I am a drinker. I’m a binger.  I wear the same clothes for days and don’t shave.

Irvine Welsh is a contemporary Scottish novelist best known for his debut novel, Trainspotting. He has written more than 15 further novels, including the Sunday Times bestseller Men in Love and the Crime series, as well as collections of shorter fiction, plays, and screenplays. His other novels include Porno, The Blade Artist, and Can Nothing Save Us? Welsh writes transgressive fiction, black comedy, and crime fiction, often using raw Scottish dialect to create distinctive voices and capture the realities of working-class life in Edinburgh. His work explores drug addiction, social alienation, poverty, boredom, violence, and the lack of opportunity, while examining the complex relationships between individuals and the communities in which they live.
