A birthday I will never forget was my 5th birthday.
My dad was able to be home for my party. I was so excited I couldn’t wait for him to get home!!! I remember standing in the hall way of our house looking at the front door waiting for him to come through. As time went by though, I started to get worried that something bad might have happened to him because he wasn’t home at the time he said he would be.
When he finally did come home and I saw that he was ok I was happy and relieved. I asked him “Dad, why were you why are you so late?” He said “The reason why I’m is because I saw field of sunflowers on my way home and I started to pick you some. With that he handed me a beautiful bouquet of wild sunflowers. I was amazed. I didn’t know what to say. Then we went into the the dinning room for cake & presents. Another well remembered gift was form my Mom. She got me a white and light pink Precious Precious Moments nightgown. After everything was cleaned up it was bedtime for me. So, I put on my nightgown and hung the flowers above my bed. Both are gone now. The flowers dried up and were eventually thrown out got. The nightgown got too small for me as it did for both my younger sisters and disappeared with a basket of laundry, but I will always remember those two presents, how much I loved them, and the joy they brought me.
