Becky Sharp. Thackeray paints her as an opportunistic and selfish woman but she has style way beyond her background and I think would make a wonderful travelling companion. She is amusing, gregarious and quick witted, able to make friends very easily before they get the chance to see through her.
We don’t want to go anywhere she has been, so I think we will start with three or four classy game reserves split between South Africa, Botswana and Zambia . Having done our bit in support of the wild life industry we will move on to South America, focusing on Costa Rica, Colombia and Chile. Becky can do the tango while I, with two left feet, will look on at the exponents to make sure that they do not become exponential.
