Book Review – Breaking Dawn

Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer (Atom) ISBN 978-1-907411-14-4

Having heard all about the Twilight Saga, I was keen to read it and learn for myself what it was about. The story has not inspired me to find out more.

Are you interested in human beings that become vampires? And them inhabiting the vampire world with wolves as part of their lives? Then by all means read this book.  It is not a book that I would recommend to book clubs.  It stands on its own, so unusual is the plot. The love story is lovely. An excerpt “I don’t know how to cry in this body; couldn’t do anything but stare.”

There is a forbidden child that survives Renesmee.  She grows in leaps and bounds.  She’s intelligent but communicates with signals. She doesn’t talk early in spite of her size.  Time doesn’t exist.  There are covens that the vampires belong to.  And, in spite of themselves, the vampires can hurt humans with the just a gentle touch.

Unusual, ancient history really, it was believed that vampires did exist. Read it and find out for yourself.
