Book Review – The Romanov Ransom

The Romanov Ransom – A Fargo Adventure by Clive Cussler and Robin Burcell (Michael Joseph) ISBN: 9780718184698

Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna has lost her precious jewels to the Russian revolution. Many years later during the Second World War this fortune is stolen by the Nazis, some of whom would escape to South America with the Romanov Ransom.

Husband and wife team, Sam and Remi Fargo go to Morocco to meet their two nephews who are making a documentary about Nazis who escaped after the war. There is a legend about a crashed plane in the Atlas Mountains containing clues to the Romanov Ransom.

The Fargos get involved in a quest to find this fortune. Along the way they learn that neo-Nazis are after the jewels to fund the resurgence of the Fourth Reich. They know they must stop this impending evil. Their quest takes them through Europe and finally to Argentina where they are chased by dangerous people from one hair-raising situation to another.

It is a gripping and enthralling adventure, yet a fun and light read.
