In The Last Stop, Thabiso Mafokeng lays bare the brutal reality of the taxi driver in a compelling and short novel as he follows the life of Macko, a taxi driver in a murky industry with dangers around every corner.  A blend of crime fiction, a social commentary on xenophobia, and a bit of the paranormal, this is an unusual and interesting read.

The writing is clear and honest, and often funny among all the bleakness, but just don’t be expecting an escapist read.
