Book Review – Shadow Man

Shadow Man by Margaret Kirk (Orion Books) ISBN: 9781409165507

Popular daytime TV star. Morven Murray is murdered a few days before her high profile wedding. Her fiancé and her sister seem the most likely suspects. A few days later local mobster Kevin Ramsay is killed.

Detective Lukas Mahler has his work cut out for him. With a colleague on leave and an assistant who really can’t stand him, Lukas has to work through the perceptions that his big-city past brings to the table. Plodding through both cases he begins to see a tenuous link, but every time he gets close the unknown killer seems to slip back into the shadows.

With an over-eager press baying for justice, a town on edge at the murder of one of their own beloved stars, and a killer who is hiding in plain sight, Lukas knows it’s only a matter of time before someone else gets killed.

Shadow Man is a gripping, clever thriller with an intriguing, flawed hero in Lukas Mahler. I really enjoyed this book
