Frank Delaney was an Irish author who wrote the New York Times bestselling novel Ireland. Other works included Tipperary, Shannon, and Simple Courage: A True Story of Peril on the Sea. He wrote novels, works of non-fiction, one novella, and short stories. His writing explored Irish history and folklore, family ties, religion, love, loss, and the impact of the past on the present. He examined Irish identity, storytelling, and the ways history shapes people’s lives. A former judge for the Man Booker Prize, Delaney enjoyed a prominent career in BBC broadcasting before becoming a full-time writer. Over a career of interviews that lasted more than three decades, Delaney, an international-best-selling author himself, interviewed more than 3,500 of the world’s most important writers.
