What are dangling participles?
A present participle is a verb ending in -ing.
It is called a ‘dangling’ participle if the subject of the verb and the subject of the sentence don’t agree.
- Example: Waiting for the bus, the time went by slowly.
- Rather say: Time went by slowly as we waited for the bus.
