The Ship Of The Dead (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard #3) by Rick Riordian (Puffin) ISBN: 978-0-14134259-7
Loki, the silver-tongued trickster god, is free from his chains and he has put together an army of zombies and giants. If he succeeds in sailing his ship Naglfar, the Ship of the Dead on Midsummer’s Day, Ragnarok will start and the nine worlds will be extinguished.
Magnus Chase and his friends, Samirah, Alex, Blitz, Hearth, T.J, Mallory, and Halfborn, sail the seas to reach Naglfar before Midsummer’s day to prevent Loki from starting Ragnarok. Along the way, Magnus promises that he will challenge Loki to a flyting – a battle of insults. To beat Loki, he has to drink Kvasir’s mead, a strong, valuable elixir. But will it be enough for Magnus to defeat Loki and put him back in his chains?
This book takes us on an action-packed adventure through the nine worlds. If you have a bad day, you can look at this book and think, ‘At least I’m having a better day!’ The Ship of the Dead vibrates with emotion. You interchangeably feel sad, happy. and even inspired. I loved it, and couldn’t put it down. It is just as good as the other books in the series. Enjoy!
