Book Review – The Last Secret Of The Deverills

The Last Secret Of The Deverills by Santa Montefiore (Simon and Schuster) ISBN 978-1-4711-3593-4

Imagine falling in love for the first time, only to discover that the man you love is your brother, your twin!

Martha lives with her adoptive parents in America and travels to Dublin in an effort to try and find her birth mother, but instead falls in love with the handsome and utterly charming JP Deverill.

She embarks on the journey of her life and stumbles upon the centuries old feud between the Deverills and the O’Leary’s. All of the family secrets are cracked open, chaos ensues, and all of this in the middle of imminent war. There is also the age old curse placed on the Deverills by the O’Leary’s for the land that was stolen from the O’Leary’s. The only way for the curse to be lifted is for the land to be returned to their rightful owners.

As we meet the Deverills, the O’Leary’s, the Doyles and the Wallaces, we witness the crazy, gripping, entangled web of family secrets, lies, lust, and even murder rumours.

This is my first Santa Montefiore novel, and, initially, I found the characters confusing as I tried to understand who fits in where, but it all came together in the end. I enjoyed reading this story of family drama and intrigue, which kept me entertained throughout.
