Book Review – The Fourth Monkey

The Fourth Monkey by J.D. Barker (HQ) ISBN: 9780008217006

Detective Sam Porter has spent close to five years trying to track down an elusive serial killer, when the killer turns up dead. In the aftermath of the apparent suicide, Porter and his partner, Nash discover that the Four Monkey Killer had kidnapped another victim and time might be running out to find her alive.

Using leads from the disturbing diary of the killer found on his body, Porter races to find the missing victim, Emory. In the back of his mind is a nagging suspicion that everything is not as it seems, and that someone is toying with the police department.

It seems like even in his death the Four Monkey Killer is calling the shots. Clues unfold only as and when and how the killer planned it to roll out, almost as if the killer is playing a game with Porter.

The Fourth Monkey is a fast-paced thriller with a lot of twists and turns, slightly predicable but a great read nevertheless.
