Book Review – The Book Of Joy

Lasting Happiness In A Changing World by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu (Penguin Random House) ISBN: 9781786330444

As I opened this book, pearls of happy wisdom and love escaped from the pages. This rare delight of a book is told by two of the world’s most infectiously happy people: His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

These two spiritual Nobel peace prize winners and great friends share with us the art of joy in an ever-changing world. Through their naughty banter and giggles they teach us about humility, love, joy, and inner peace. Their own experiences of pain and anguish are used as the tools and base lines to living life joyfully.

The Book Of Joy had me smiling and glued to each page and I am now left with a sense of positivity and inner joy (exactly what the book is about).

“We suffer from myopia, as a result we are near-sighted and unable to see our experience in a longer way” says the Dalai Lama.
“We find inner joy when we help others” Desmond Tutu smiled.

And there it was; the core message. To have inner joy you must bring joy to others. This is an amazing and life changing read.
