Thank You For Being Late by Thomas L. Friedman (Allen Lane) ISBN 978-0-241-30144-9
Thank you for being late is a read on how the world has changed in a very short space of time. It revolves around the three major contributors to this change: technology, globalisation, and climate change. Thomas Friedman emphasises the year 2007 as the year things changed the most in terms of Technology. He clearly explains how the cloud or ‘Supernova’ as he calls it, was a major contributor to that.
I enjoyed how all the concepts he introduces throughout the book were clearly explained. My main take from the book is that the world is moving at a fast pace and we need to keep up. We need to trust each other, build new relationships, and embrace collaboration. We also need to accept and not be afraid of change.
It’s an informative book that explains why the world is the way it is, and made me understand the different forces that result in all the changes we are facing and going forward what I can do to play my part. The book ends on a more personal note as Friedman shares his memories of growing up in Minnesota and compares it to how different it is now.
