Book Review – Ricky Of The River Pride

Ricky Of The River Pride by Lindsay Sherratt (Struik Children) ISBN: 9781432307035

In her book, Ricky of the River Pride, Lindsay Sherratt tells a story with inspiration from a young boy who loved playing with toy animals. Sherratt uses her imagination to bring the boy’s toys to life. She comes up with this fascinating book for children between the ages of 3-6.

Ricky wakes up one night to the sound of his name being called. His toys are all gone and he sees Cheetah, Elephant and Zebra standing in the garden outside. They need his help in rescuing a lion cub trapped in the river.

Ricky rescues the cub and the parents are grateful. Syon, ruler of the River Pride, dips his paw into the mud and presses it on Ricky’s chest as a sign of accepting him into the River Pride family. Ricky returns home and wakes up to find a large paw print on his chest.

This is a good book with good illustrations for children with imagination.
