Book Review – Bodyguard Target

by Chris Bradford (Puffin Books) ISBN: 9780141359496

Bodyguard Target is the fourth book the Bodyguard Series featuring the fierce Charley Hunter. Charley has always been a bit of a rebel, haunted by an event from her past she is driven to be dangerously competitive and a very capable athlete.

It’s only a matter of time before Charley is on the radar of the Bodyguard programme. In order to escape her frequent brushes with the law, she is given the opportunity to join a specialised training programme. After completing her training, Charley is assigned a project that sees her and her team protecting Ash Wild, the most popular teen rock star in the world. Ash has attracted the attentions of someone who is determined to hurt him. Charley and her team are all that stands between him and fifty thousand screaming fans, one of whom wants him dead.

Fast-paced, action-packed and gripping, Bodyguard Target has an unforgettable and realistic heroine, who leads the pack with a determination and grit usually reserved for male heroes. It’s great to see a girl in the driving seat, and with the climatic ending, I cannot wait to read the next instalment of this series, and see what awaits Charley.
