I loved this book. As an animal and nature aficionado, I enjoy game drives and stories about the bush. This comprehensive book covers 101 stories about the three sections of Kruger Park as told by members of the public over the years.
Jeff Gordon has taken the best of the stories he received and edited them into short stories. My favourites include the German tourists who decided to camp by a watering hole in the park and bath in the watering hole; the hippo who tried to save the impala’s life; the little girl who was bitten by a snake but still loves the Park and is not afraid of snakes; the leopard who killed the cheetah who killed the buck; the
people who got stuck in the storm that filled the river for 30 hours; the drunk youngsters who walked into the Park at night to claim a “trophy” of a buffalo skull and so many more.
I would say this is a must-read for anyone who enjoys such tales, as they paint vivid images in your mind and you feel you’re also in the Park. Almost as good as a holiday.
