Helen is intelligent, beautiful and fast. She is also shy and tries to fade into the background. That is until one day she encounters the new boy at school, Lucas Delos. Lucas is super good looking but Helen does not notice his looks. She just wants to kill him and does not know why. Now everyone at school thinks she is a freak.
Â
Helen always knew she was different. When she meets the Delos’ family she realises why. Lucas is a demi-god and so is Helen. They are from opposing houses and can never be together. Circumstances throw them together because Lucas’ family has to teach Helen to defend herself against supernatural forces who want her dead.

This is Angelini’s debut novel and the first book in the Starcrossed trilogy. I initially enjoyed the book. It is well written and the characters are powerful, as one would expect of descendants from the Greek gods.
Â
Unfortunately, there are too many parallels with Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series. I hope the follow up will be more original. Helen Hamilton is too interesting as a character to be forgotten.
